The quiet season, it's a perfect time to come.
-
The weather's been fantastic.
-
It's been just perfect.
-
It was amazing.
-
Do it with Viking.
-
It's so much easier to get around and to see, to get up close to the things you want to see and not have to wait in long lines.
-
We walk right up, we get right on, we go right in.
-
There's virtually no waiting.
-
The water is beautiful.
-
The days have been comfortable and not windy at all.
-
The weather has been much better than we expected it to be.
-
We came with parkas and all kinds of things and have never needed them.
-
It's just delightful.
-
Being able to travel and just have a couple of layers has really been a joy.
-
Enjoyed it very, very much.
-
I was surprised that other cruise lines haven't appreciated the benefit of traveling during the off-season.
-
Various places we've gone, the Acropolis, Pompeii, the Colosseum, the Forum in Rome, Florence, have all been much less crowded than what we would've expected to see.
-
There's fewer people.
-
I get more attention from my guide.
-
I get to see more things because I don't have people in the way, and I have a better value, so I get more for my money.
-
It's such an old culture, and there's so much I've learned since I've been here.
-
Walking on streets that were built 1,000 or more years ago is something that we don't see in the United States.
-
I've also enjoyed meeting the people and learning a little bit of the language here.
-
You really get to appreciate the culture and what has been here and what is here now, more so than you can when there's so many people and you're kind of vying to get up front to see something beautiful.
-
We were able to see all the sights that we wanted to see.
-
The one-on-one time that we had in Turkey with our guide afforded us the ability to ask him questions, and we weren't disturbing the whole tour.
-
But he was able to give us that time because of the smaller crowds.
-
We could ask questions and talk with each other, and it's just been phenomenal.
-
It's just been terrific.
-
Something that's very important to me is photography, and coming during the quiet season, the opportunity to do that was very present.
-
We were on the Acropolis the other day, and our guide mentioned that you can have 3,000 people an hour starting the tour, and we had maybe a few hundred up at the top on the Acropolis.
-
So it definitely made it much easier to get around and see the buildings without having to juggle our way through the crowd.
-
I could focus on walking at my own pace rather than wanting to hurry to keep up with somebody else or being in somebody else's way, which happens when you have so many people.
-
It's just been a wonderful experience.
-
It's very intimate.
-
It's very comfortable.
-
We would do it again.
-
We would highly recommend it.
-
We were really pleased when we decided to do Viking, and we're really pleased that we decided to do Viking in the quiet season because we have great staff, we have great support, we don't have all the people, and we don't have all the bugs, and I get my photographs, and it's just a positive experience.
-
And I save money.
-
So how can you do better than that?
-
We just have been treated like royalty, and I just don't think there's a better way to go than a Viking cruise.
-
I would do it again.
-
I would travel at this time to the Mediterranean again, for sure.
