PRESENT...
A new chapter has now begun in the history of Viking Cruises; Bob & Marci Plank have taken over the business. Bob & Marci have been recreational boating enthusiasts from the LaConner area for many years. As Both were immersed in the corporate worlds of electronics and Home improvement, there never was enough time to spend on the boat..... They really fixed that now!!!
Bob's education was in Geophysics and worked for the state of Montana as an Earthquake Seismologist for a few years. During that time, he developed a passion for the natural history of the Northwest but moved professionally into the world of electronics ever longing for a return to studying nature and its phenomena. Now, becoming a full-time naturalist and skipper on the Viking Star, Bob is back in his element; both spending full time on the boat and studying the natural surroundings. His love and knowledge of the islands becomes apparent on each and every trip people share with him.
Marci's background includes owning and operating her own small Card and Stationary store in LaConner; but the majority of her professional experience has been as an Administrative Assistant due to her uncompromising organizational skills, attention to details, and working with people. Marci now manages the office and does all preparation of meals, decoration, and any other details on-board the Viking Star. Her love of boating and people are readily apparent to each passenger aboard as they feel her personal, friendly, and caring interaction.

PAST...
Ken and Sue McDonald pioneered nature cruises in the San Juan Islands in the late 1970's. Today, the McDonald's have begun their retirement but are still helping the new owners, Bob and Marci Plank continue to offer the intimacy, comfort, and personalized tours they so painstakingly developed over 25 years.
At the time Ken and Susan began their charter business only one other tour boat offered tours into the islands. In fact the McDonald's, along with their son Aaron, daughter Kerry, niece Christine and the family's dogs and cats, quickly became pioneers in developing sight-seeing cruises in the San Juans.
